Novak Djokovic Foundation hosted a special projection of the “King Richard” movie, which simultaneously served as a presentation of the Foundation’s Path of a Champion program. The movie about the father of the legendary sisters Serena and Venus Williams attracted plenty of sports figures and other public personae, who left the movie theatre full of impressions.
Novak Djokovic Foundation organized an extraordinary projection of the new sports flick “King Richard” – as a part of the promotion of principles and content of the specialized program of the foundation – “The Path of a Champion”. This precious feature film, which chronicles the unique developmental path of famous tennis sisters, Serena and Venus Williams – guided in a completely unique way by their father Richard – is thematically relevant to the goals of this program of the Foundation, aimed at providing support and understanding for parents of young athletes – and future aces and champions.

“Path of a Champion” program of the Novak Djokovic Foundation, presented on this year’s International Day of Sport for Development and Peace – is unique because it offers important support to parents of future athletes in the form of educational programs and broader assistance to empower them in this particularly demanding role. It has been recognized and supported by a growing number of eminent experts and legendary aces in the field of sport, sport psychology and health. In 2021, this project organized 6 special workshops for parents in which the founders of the Foundation, Novak and Jelena Djokovic, actively participated, sharing their life, sport, and professional experience with the participants. With the projection of a film that comprehensively deals with the topic of the work of professional teams and friends – the project also announces the beginning of holding a series of public panel discussions (in hybrid format) starting in December this year – which will feature some of the greatest names and legends of Serbian sport, experts and parents, who will directly address the general public about all important topics and issues in this field.

Through the planned program activities – and original promotions of the essence of its work and goals, such as this special cultural event – “Path of Champion” will continue to improve the development of the sports ecosystem from the youngest age, and to give important encouragement for parents to follow the first sports steps through play, on the path to happiness, fulfillment, and success of their children. The official partners of the program in Serbia are renowned companies Motorola and Lacoste.
During the discussion that followed the movie, Snezana Jankovic and Srecko Jaric, parents of coveted Serbian sport spars, shared their experience on the path of a champion.

Our dedicated work on offering professional and human support to parents, as they are making decisions in the process of their children growing up through sport, has tonight received the most beautiful encouragement and inspiration, and we are certain that you will be with us for the next events of our program as well!” – Ana Jovanović, the author of the “Path of a Champion” program, thus addressed the attendees before the projection.
