First Champion Steps with Novak

by , Posted on 8th Sep 2021

Within its program Path of a Champion, Novak Djokovic Foundation held a first of many workshops for parents, who will be mentored by some of the most eminent professionals recognized internationally. The content of these workshops is intended for children of all sports, both in Serbia and abroad.

Under the auspices of its special program symbolically named Path of a Champion, Novak Djokovic Foundation hosted the first of the four planned workshops for parents of children training at the Novak Tennis Academy.

Path of a Champion stems from the wish to support parents of children playing sports—the aces of tomorrow. It is intended not only for the whose children are at the Novak Tennis Academy or the ones playing tennis per se, but also for the ones whose kids play other sports — both in Serbia and abroad.

Some of the biggest namesؙ—coaches, parents, and former players—of Serbian sport, will be sharing their knowledge, expertise, and experiences that occurred on the way to the top. This project is supported by Motorola and Lacoste Foundation.

We are certain that everything we share throughout this program can help parents a great deal and provide the necessary support when it comes to the decision-making during their children’s development through sport,” claims Ana Jovanovic, author of the recently initiated program.

The smile says it all: Ana Jovanovic didn’t hide her excitement after the first successful workshop.

As the foundation of the world No.1 tennis player and athlete, we believe that it is important to follow your dreams and that sport is, above all, a base upon which children grow into happier and wealthier young people, whichever profession they opt to pursue,” adds Maja Kremic, National Director of Novak Djokovic Foundation.

A promising start: the first workshop engaged the parents who gladly contributed to the discussion.

The first four workshops will set the tone for a big public panel taking place in September, where some of the most respected figures of world sport will participate – including Novak Djokovic himself.

Picking each other’s brains: parents of children-athletes acquiring the desired skills needed to support their heirs on the Path of a champion.

The NDF program Path of a Champion, successfully premiered at this year’s International Day of Sports panel, is unique because it provides adequate support to parents of future athletes through education and strengthens their capacities in this rather demanding role. It has been embraced and endorsed by a growing number of eminent professionals from the fields of sport and sports psychology and health. In its multiple forms, this program will keep enhancing the development of the ecosystem of involvement in sports. It will keep empowering parents in following their children’s sports development through play, happiness, fulfillment, and success.
