What does a child need during the first years of life? How do we build a secure bond? When should we set boundaries, and when should we let a child find their own way? And how do a child’s needs change as they grow?
Experts from Serbia and the region will explore these and many other questions at “Parenting That Grows”, a conference organized by the Novak Djokovic Foundation throughout October and November at MTS Dvorana in Belgrade, with the support of its main sponsors, Generali Serbia and The Human Safety Net Serbia.
The conference is part of the Support, Not Perfection (PNP) program and features four sessions dedicated to different stages of a child’s development – from pregnancy and early childhood, through the school years, and all the way to adolescence.
The first session, taking place on October 3, is titled “From Pregnancy to Age 6 – How Early Development Shapes the Child, the Parent, and Their Shared World.” The session will feature Prof. Dr. Aleksandar Baucal, professor and psychologist; Dr. Sci. Nirvana Pištoljević, an expert in education and child development; and Miša Stojiljković, psychologist and creator of the Tata, ti si lud (“Dad, You’re Crazy”) series.

Public during the conference “Roditeljkse perspektive – osećanja i jasne granice.”
Each session features three expert talks, an artistic performance, and a panel discussion, with plenty of opportunity for questions and conversation with the audience. The aim is to provide parents, future parents, and everyone who works with children with expert, practical, and actionable insights that can help them better understand children – as well as themselves in their role as the adults who guide and support them as they grow.
Because parenting is not something we learn once and know forever. As children grow, their needs, questions, and challenges change – and parents grow alongside them.
Four sessions. Four stages of development. One shared goal – how to support children as they grow.
