This weekend, Serbian rowers Martin Mačković and Nikolaj Pimenov will race at the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta. But they are rowing for more than victory. Every stroke they take helps raise funds for Path of a Champion, a Novak Djokovic Foundation program dedicated to supporting the next generation of children, young athletes, and families through sport and education.
More Than a Race
Rowing is a sport that offers no shortcuts.
Every day, it demands your very best — physically, mentally, and emotionally. It requires discipline, resilience, consistency, and unwavering commitment. While rowing rarely brings great financial rewards or public recognition, it shapes character in ways few other sports can.
The work begins long before sunrise, when the river is still dark and quiet, and no one is there to watch. Success is built through years of training measured not only in medals, but in countless hours on the water, endless sessions in the gym, and the determination to keep going when giving up would be easier.
The sport does not promise fame. Instead, it builds something far more valuable: character.
Martin Mačković and Nikolaj Pimenov know this better than most.
Racing for Path of a Champion
This weekend, Martin and Nikolaj will represent Serbia at Henley Royal Regatta, one of the world’s oldest and most respected rowing competitions.
Held on the River Thames since 1839, Henley is an event reserved for crews who have earned their place through exceptional performances and years of dedication. Their participation is especially meaningful as Serbia returns to the regatta for the first time in a decade.
But for Martin and Nikolaj, this race carries an even greater purpose.
As supporters of the Novak Djokovic Foundation’s Path of a Champion program, they are using one of rowing’s biggest stages to help raise funds for children and families across Serbia.
Every meter they row represents an opportunity for someone else to take their first step toward a brighter future.

What Is Path of a Champion?
At the Novak Djokovic Foundation, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to grow, learn, and thrive—not only in school, but also through sport.
Path of a Champion was created to help children, parents, coaches, and sports organizations build healthier sporting environments where young people can develop with confidence, resilience, and joy.
The program provides education, expert guidance, and practical tools that empower adults to better support children throughout their sporting journey. By promoting positive coaching, informed parenting, and healthy athlete development, Path of a Champion helps ensure that sport becomes a place where children can build character, confidence, and lifelong skills.
Together with our partners Vega IT and AIK Banka, we are proud to support this mission and the athletes who are helping bring it to life.
2,112 Meters. 2,112 Opportunities.
The Henley course measures exactly 2,112 meters. For this campaign, every meter has become a symbol.
Every donated euro or dollar represents one meter of the course. Together, all 2,112 meters become 2,112 opportunities to support children, families, coaches, and the future of youth sport through Path of a Champion.
One meter may seem like a small contribution. But when thousands of people come together, those individual meters become something much greater—a collective effort that helps create healthier sporting experiences for generations to come.
As Nikolaj Pimenov beautifully says:
“Every meter is a step toward a better future for children.”

Why Martin and Nikolaj Inspire Us
What inspires us most is not only what Martin Mačković and Nikolaj Pimenov have achieved as elite athletes. It is who they are beyond competition.
Both have invested in their education alongside their sporting careers, proving that academic growth and athletic excellence can go hand in hand. They embody the values that Path of a Champion seeks to pass on to every young person: discipline, perseverance, responsibility, curiosity, and respect.
Their journey reminds us that true champions are defined not only by the races they win, but by the example they set and the opportunities they create for others.
Every Stroke Creates Opportunity
There is something profoundly meaningful about a race measured in meters becoming a measure of hope.
As Martin and Nikolaj race down the River Thames, they are representing Serbia on one of rowing’s greatest stages. But they are also rowing for children they may never meet. They are rowing for parents who want to better support their children’s dreams. They are rowing for coaches who strive to create positive sporting environments. And they are rowing for every young person who deserves the opportunity to discover what they are capable of.
Every stroke moves their boat forward.
Every donated meter helps Path of a Champion reach another child, another family, another coach, and another community.
Together, we can help build the next generation of champions—not only in sport, but in life.
Support Martin and Nikolaj’s fundraiser and help Path of a Champion create brighter futures for children and families through sport.
