Dr. Shefali Tsabary at mts dvorana: “Parents’ childhood is directly related to children reaching their full potential”
At the invitation of the Novak Djokovic Foundation, Dr. Shefali Tsabary, world’s leading expert on parenting, held a lecture “Support, not perfection” in Belgrade, where she presented her concept of conscious parenting to the Serbian public. Through a conversation with Jelena Djokovic, she also shared the basic principles of the approach that strengthens the child’s authenticity. The largest room of the mts hall proved to be too small for all those who wanted to hear Oprah’s favorite interlocutor live, since the tickets were sold out days in advance. Before Belgrade, Dr. Shefali gave lectures in Ljubljana and Zagreb.
For the author of several New York Times bestsellers, these were the first performances on the European continent, and what especially delighted her were the response and open-mindedness of the parents who visited her lecture.
‘Conscious parenting puts the parent, not the child, in the center, since it is the parent who needs to realize to what extent his own personality limits or encourages the child’s authenticity. Although this concept is something completely new for many, I was delighted by how interested in this important topic parents in Serbia were. It is evident that a large number of them are ready to change their existing habits and patterns, so that their children grow up in a more honest and open relationship, full of understanding,” said Dr. Shefali Tsabary after the lecture.
Jelena Djokovic, the co-founder and global CEO of the Novak Djokovic Foundation, emphasized the importance of the opportunity for parents from the entire region to learn more about conscious parenting directly from the author of the concept herself.
“I am extremely proud that, after full halls in Ljubljana and Zagreb, we also managed to ignite great interest in this important topic in Belgrade, which is also confirmed by the full mts dvorana. I believe that it is precisely the concept of conscious parenting that allows parents to express their love for their children in the best possible way, recognizing and nurturing their uniqueness. If, after this event, only one parent applies the principles of conscious parenting in their relationship with their child, for me this project of the Novak Djokovic Foundation has achieved its goal,” said Jelena Djokovic.
The conversation was attended by many parents from public life. Several thousand people saw the lectures in Ljubljana, Zagreb, and Belgrade.
The Novak Djokovic Foundation, which has been supporting parents for several years by implementing the “Support, not perfection” program in various places on Serbian territory, plans to continue to improve their competences in different ways, in order to enhance the position and conditions in which children in Serbia grow up.
For this purpose, Jelena Djokovic announced the launch of the Novak Djokovic Foundation Online Academy – a new platform dedicated to all those who want to improve their knowledge and skills in order to help themselves and their children reach their full potential.
