It devastated the country and rendered hundreds of thousands of victims homeless overnight. The EU, World Bank Group and UN officials estimated the damage at over 1 billion Euros.
This natural disaster completely transformed life in Serbia in a heartbeat.
We immediately responded to the crisis. Over the course of three months following the floods, thanks to your contributions, we raised over $1.5m. We used the funds to reopen schools. In some cases, we rebuilt them completely, and where we could, we refurbished existing structures. Over 2,000 children were able to return to school in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and over 1,000 children were able to access disease preventive resources in Croatia.
In addition to the preschools opened, in 2015, we formed a partnership with NIS and Gazprom Neft, to help students whose lives and schools were affected by great floods in Serbia in 2014.
The classrooms have been dramatically improved and modernized and furnished with all of the materials necessary for young scientists to flourish.
Thanks to this joint investment, we refurbished Physics and Chemistry labs in ten schools throughout Serbia.
