In light of World Health Day, we share with you our journey through the challenging times that still follow us.

From the very beginning, it was clear that the battle against the COVID-19 virus would not last just one day. The health care system of Serbia, as well as the health care systems of all other countries in the world, were under great pressure. It was crucial for our society to show solidarity, perseverance and readiness for teamwork. Although our Foundation is primarily focused on investing in the early development of children, our team has always been ready to provide support to Serbia and the region in other challenges as well. Thanks to our help after the great floods that devastated areas of our country in 2014, many preschools were reconstructed and our youngest generations were able to continue with their early education. Recognizing the severity of the health situation after the outbreak of the pandemic, the Foundation was ready to help once again to the same extent. In light of World Health Day, we share with you more about our support for brave health workers in their care of COVID patients.

Immediately after the pandemic’s outbreak, our founders, Novak and Jelena Djokovic donated one million euros for the purchase of necessary medical equipment. On that occasion, Novak said that the fight is not easy, that the numbers are not pleasant, but that he is convinced that we will be able to come out of this even stronger than before. He also shared with the public how much he believes it is important to be in solidarity and to help each other in order to beat the virus faster.

When delivering donations, the Foundation's team was guided by the goal of helping the biggest "pandemic hotspots", but also other cities throughout Serbia.

Our entire team made sure that the equipment arrived as soon as possible, that it was of high quality and that it met the needs of health institutions throughout Serbia.

Thanks to the support of our partners, the Foundation provided assistance worth over 1,023,000 euros to 25 health care institutions in Serbia.

So far, we have donated 17 ventilators, 54 clinical monitors, 14 electric clinical beds, 2 state-of-the-art CT scanners, 2 high-quality surface disinfectants, 125 flow meters with humidifiers for oxygen therapy, 6 syringe pumps, ECG apparatus and other necessary medical equipment.

When delivering donations, the Foundation’s team was guided by the goal of helping the biggest “pandemic hotspots”, but also other cities throughout Serbia. So far, we have helped health institutions in Kragujevac, Krusevac, Kraljevo, Novi Pazar, Cuprija, Cacak, Sremska Mitrovica, Smederevo, Belgrade, Novi Sad, Nis, Subotica, Valjevo, Sabac, Bor and Pancevo. We also tried to find the best ways to help children in such challenging times. That is why we donated 100,000 health packages for all first graders in Serbia and reconstructed the rooms for play and education in three children’s hospitals in Belgrade in order to make the stay of the children’s patients at least a little better.

Although our Foundation is primarily focused on investing in the early development of children, our team has always been ready to provide support to Serbia and the region in other challenges as well.

As the epidemiological situation, not only of our country but of the entire region, remains unstable, our Foundation continues to monitor the situation on the ground, listen to the needs of health workers and in cooperation with the Ministry of Health strives to respond quickly and provide assistance where it is most needed.
