We adults must respect the children and their rights. They are our future and it is our duty to ensure that they have a better tomorrow. We make the world a nicer and more loving place by caring about their well-being.

This November, besides Universal Children’s Day, UN marks its 25th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child. 25 years ago UN made a promise to the children across the world that they would do their best to protect their rights so that they could develop, learn and fulfil their potential.

We were all children once. And we all share the desire for the well-being of our children, which has always been and will continue to be the most universally cherished aspiration of humankind.

The United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of the Child on Universal Children’s Day that has been celebrated every year on 20th of November since 1954.This day is observed as a day of activities devoted to promoting the welfare of the children of the world. On this day many schools and other educational institutions make a special effort to inform children of their rights according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Teachers stimulate their pupils to think about the differences between themselves and others and explain the idea of rights. In countries where the rights of children are generally well-respected, teachers may draw attention to situations in countries where this is not the case.

One of the best ways to help children succeed in life is to educate them – UNICEF Serbia.

The Convention on the Rights of the Child contains 54 articles and is a comprehensive instrument setting out rights that define universal principles and norms for the status of children. It is the only international human rights treaty which covers the whole spectrum of civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights.

These rights can be summed up in 10 points:

All children and young people have the same rights. No child or young person may be put at a disadvantage because of sex, color of skin, language or religion.

Children and young people have a right to the best health possible, as well as healthcare and medical care.

Children and young people have the right to free basic education. The possibility to attend schools to further their education should also be enabled..

Children and young people have the right to rest, leisure, play and participation in cultural and artistic activities.

Children and young people have the right to information, freedom to express their opinions and to be heard.

Children and young people have the right to a good upbringing. Their parents or guardians may not use physical force against them; ill-treatment and misuse is forbidden.

Children and young people have the right to receive special protection and help during war.

Children and young people have the right to protection against exploitative work and sexual abuse.

Children and young people have the right to live with their parents and to have contact to both their mother and father if they live apart.

Disabled children and young people have the right to special support and promotion, as well as the right to play an active part in society.

Novak Djokovic Foundation strongly supports and respects Universal Children’s Day and the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Our mission is to enable children from disadvantaged communities to grow up, play and develop in a stimulating, creative and safe settings, whilst learning to respect others and care of their environment. We believe in a world where all children have an equal chance of growing up and developing into productive, caring citizens of the world.

We as adults must respect the children and their rights. They are our future and it is our duty to ensure that they have a better tomorrow. We make the world a nicer and more loving place by caring about their well-being.

World Humanitarian Day takes place on August 19th, and is a time to recognize those who face danger and adversity in order to help others.

The day was designated by the General Assembly to coincide with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq, which killed 22 UN staff.

It’s a day to commemorate all people who have lost their lives in humanitarian service and to celebrate the spirit that inspired humanitarian work around the world. On this occasion, UN Secretary-General, Mr Ban Ki-moon said:

“Every year on August 19th we mark World Humanitarian Day in honour of aid workers, who have lost their lives in the line of duty. We commemorate their sacrifice and reaffirm our commitment to the lifesaving work that humanitarians carry out around the world every day, often in difficult and dangerous circumstances, where others cannot or do not want to go.”

The world needs more humanitarian heroes – people from all walks of life who are committed to making a difference. Become a messenger of humanity, join a growing team of global humanitarian heroes and organisations to help people in need.

June 1 is celebrated worldwide as the Global Day of Parents to honor the parents and their dedication to the children. This date was established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012. .

In its resolution, which proclaimed June 1st as the Global Day of Parents, the United Nations stated how the the family has the primary responsibility for the care and protection of the children. More so, it was stated that the children should be allowed to grow up in a family environment, in an atmosphere of happiness, love and understanding with the goal of full and comprehensive personality development.

The role of parents in raising children is the basis and the foundation of our community and society. Parents play a key role as guardians and teachers of their children to prepare them for a happy, productive and fulfilling live. For this reason, this day is celebrated in honor of one of the most important and most responsible life roles .

Global Day of Parents is a great opportunity to thank your parents for everything they have done and do for you, regardless whether you are still young or have found yourselve in this responsible role.

Let’s spend this day with the people who give us unconditional love and who have dedicated their entire life to raising, educating and introducing us to the world.

How will you spend this day? Please comment below. We’d love to hear your experiences.
