How life is not defined by what happens to us, but by the choices we make.

The opening of Amy Purdy’s TEDx talk, one brave and courageous girl who didn’t allow her serious life obstacles to be a stumbling stone for her great life achievements:

If your life was a book, and you were the author, how would you like your story to go?

When she was 19, Amy Purdy lost both her legs below the knee due to meningitis infection, but that didn’t stop her in becoming a professional snowboarder. In her TEDx speech she is telling us how we can learn from every situation life puts us in and how we can use many of the life’s obstacles as encouragement for creativity in making our own life stories.

We invite you to look at this inspiring speech in which Amy encourages people to take control of their lives and limitations.

Watch it together with your children and let them hear from this girl how life is not defined by what happens to us, but by the choices we make. Show them through this video how imagination and creativity can overcome obstacles that hold us back:
