The Second Schools of Life Seminar in Merošina
The goal of the second Schools of Life seminar, held in Merošina in mid-October, was to empower the teachers and inform them how to improve the quality of educational practice.
The second Schools of Life seminar “Step by step – good practice in teaching and learning for quality education” was held in the preschool institution “Poletarac” in Merošina, on October 17-19th, 2014. This teacher training program has been officially accredited (reference number 390) and published in the Catalogue of programs for continuous professional development of teachers, educators, professional associates and principals for the school year 2014/2015. Beside the teachers and educators from the PI, the teachers from the elementary school “Jastrebački partizani” also participated at the seminar. We are glad to see more and more preschool and school staff in the training, since we believe it’s a great way to improve the quality of education in Serbia.
The training has been designed to enhance individual teachers’ professional skills and knowledge, as well as to help them adapt their teaching and interactions to children’s different needs and interests. Participants were able to acquire basic skills and knowledge of methodology – step by step, that has been successfully used in educational practice in neighboring countries.
The seminar was implemented by CIP-Center for Interactive Pedagogy, NDF partner in the project “Schools of Life – Together for Childhood”. The trainers were Slađana Golubović, psychologist at primary school “Sreten Mladenović Mika” in Niš and Svetlana Radosavljević, educator at the preschool institution “Naše dete” in Vranje. The seminar was highly rated by the participants, with average mark 3,87 out of max 4.
Apart from the seminar, we are happy to announce that boys and girls from Oblačina and nearby villages in Merošina will get a new place to learn and play with their friends. The works on the reconstruction of another School of Life are reaching their final stage. Desks, chairs, and other devices are being placed in the classrooms, while the schoolyard will soon have new and wonderful playground equipment. NDF team, together with our partners from CIP center, will equip the classrooms with toys and didactic materials, thus ensuring that children can discover and learn new things and have fun in a creative, stimulating and enjoyable environment.
