“The Schools of Life” project participants meet in Merosina and Vladicin Han

“The Schools of Life” project participants meeting: “The Expansion of the Network of Programmes and Services of local community for the children aged 3 to 5 and a half” successfully conducted in Merosina and Vladicin Han

The aim of the Schools of Life meeting held in Merosina and Vladicin Han municipalities at the end of June was to bring together, inform and motivate the representatives of the local institutions, organisations as well as the parents to get actively involved in creating better conditions for growing up of children aged 3 to 5 and a half.

The first set of activities as a part of the: “Schools of life – together for childhood” project, started off with the meeting of local institutions’ and organisations’ representatives in Vladicin Han and Merosina municipalities. The subject of the meeting was an “Expansion of the network of programmes and services of local community for the children aged 3 to 5 and a half”.

In addition to providing an important information on significance of the programmes and services for children at an early age, the legal aspects of the special and specialized programmes development for children in kindergartens were also presented to the project participants.

The goal of the meeting was to motivate the representatives of relevant institutions, organisations as well as the parents to take an active role in a creation of the programmes and services in the preschool education system.

A special challenge was to find a way to motivate parents to change their attitude towards preschool upbringing and education, and information provided will make a significant support in pleading for programmes which encourage the development of their children.

In the municipality of Merosina, the first meeting was held on June 17th 2014. A total of 17 participants accepted the invitation. In addition to representatives of preschool institution“Poletarac” , the representatives of the primary school “Jastrebacki partizani”, the Red Cross, the Health Centre, the National library, the Centre for Social Work and the Office for local and economy development of Merosina were present as well.

The participants pointed out how the great straggling of the settlement (a specificity to Medosina) additionally complicates their efforts to bring all children to kindergartens. They are trying to overcome the obstacle by organising van transportation and they are intending to follow the same for a duration of the “School of life –together for childhood” project.

On June 19th 2014, in the venues of the municipality of Vladicin Han, the same meeting took place. In addition to the preschool institution “Pcelica” representative, the representatives of primary school “Vuk Karadzic”, Lepenica Social Centre, the Health Centre, municipality of Vladicin Han, the Center for Social Work and the Centre for culture and tourism were present as well.

The discussion that followed the presentation stressed the importance of formal and informal networks between all relevant actors of the local society, responsible for securing of a stimulating environment for growing up of children in the municipality of Vladicin Han.

In both municipalities “The Expansion of the Network of Programmes and Services of local community for the children aged 3 to 5 and a half”  meeting was organized byCIP – Centre for Interactive Pedagogy, the NDF’s implementation partner in this project .

It was successfully conducted by Natasa Stamenkovic, a professional associate of preschool institution “Nase dete” from Vranje.
