Renovation of the School of Life in Oblacina begins
Thanks to the cooperation of the Novak Djokovic Foundation and the Municipality of Merosina the works on renovation and equipping of the School of Life started within the premises of the primary school “Jastrebacki partizani” in Oblačina village.
The works on renovation and equipping of the School of Life have started within the premises of the primary school “Jastrebacki partizani” in Oblačina village, thanks to the cooperation of the Novak Djokovic Foundation and the Municipality of Merosina. The works are expected to be finished in the next three weeks, and if everything goes as planned, the pre-schoolers and their little friends will be able to socialize and spend time in renovated rooms by the end of September.
Gorana Dzudza Jakovljevic, the Foundation Project manager, pointed out that NDF and The Municipality of Merosina are investing two million dinars in creating better conditions for 60 kids in this area, within the project “Schools of Life – Together for Childhood”.
We are very glad to see that children from Oblačina and surrounding villages will soon have an opportunity to be included in educational programs and have fun with their peers in the adapted school premises. Renovation and equipping will be supported by the funds raised at Easter auction of chocolate eggs held in April this year

The demolition of existing walls in the primary school “Jastrebacki partizani” has already started, and it will be followed by flooring installation, plastering and painting of the walls, ceilings, doors and windows. In order to fulfil all the requests regarding the safe stay of children of early age, the works on electrical, water supply and sewerage installations will also be conducted, as well as the installation of the water heating boiler and radiators.
The funds for the playground equipment such as ladders, slides and swings have also been provided.
“Schools of Life – Together for Childhood” project is being implemented in cooperation with CIP – Centre for interactive pedagogy.
Teachers’ training is significant as well
28 educators and two professional collaborators from kindergarten “Poletarac” will participate in seminars.
Apart from already realized seminar “Start at the beginning, the beginning is important – support to early growing up, development and learning”, new training courses “Step by step – with high-quality educational practice towards knowledge society” and “Neither black, nor white – a program for working with children / young people against prejudice, for tolerance and intercultural relations” are scheduled for September and October.
Participants shall receive 24 hours of professional training per each course in three days. The courses are approved by the Institute for Advancement of Upbringing and Education.
Besides professional development of the educators, a continuous mentoring support in process of programme development has also been provided by the CIP – Centre for interactive pedagogy.
