“We have recognized the importance of the project, because this is the only educational institution in this municipality, and in the past few years, there has been a growing demand for kindergarten spots. The new preschool will have over 460 square meters, it will be furbished according to the latest standards, and children, teachers and all other kindergarten staff will be working in the best conditions. So far, we have reconstructed or built 45 preschools, and thus helping more than 22,000 children and close to 1,600 teachers in Serbia. The goal of the Foundation is to ensure the ideal conditions for growth and development for children, and our community will now be joined by the children from Topola too,” says Kovacevic.
Assembly President of the Municipality of Topola, Dragan Jovanovic, stated that, due to tradition, history, and Oplenac, Topola is a municipality of exceptional cultural-historical importance in Serbia.
“For a long period of time, the Municipality of Topola, that is, “Sofija Ristić” kindergarten, has been in need of expansion, and we will have the satisfaction of Novak Djokovic Foundation being our partner in this. By completing the expansion project, waiting lists for enrolment will be completely erased, children will get a modern institution for growing up care-free, and the municipality gets a reliable partner in the Novak Djokovic Foundation in realising the project well, to the joy of both children and their parents,” Jovanovic stated.
Head of “Sofija Ristić” kindergarten Tanja Jovanovic thanked the Foundation for their immeasurable help and this precious gift, adding that this does not only help for the kindergarten, but also for our Topola and the surrounding villages, because children will be the happiest because of this, and they are our greatest joy.
“We are celebrating 35 years since the founding of the kindergarten, and 75 years since the beginning of pre-school education in Topola. We began with small capacities, but over the years, there were more and more children who wanted to go to our kindergarten. From three full-day care groups and two half-day care groups, the number of groups increased, and today we have ten full-day care groups and 14 groups of pre-school programmes, but we need even more. With this gesture by Novak Djokovic Foundation, we obtained something we needed, to accommodate our children and make their childhood and growing up nicer,” Jovanovic stated.
