Thanks to your support, we have successfully carried out another “Season of Giving” fundraising campaign during which over USD 140,000 has been raised for the construction and furnishing of preschools in Serbia, exceeding the initial goal of the campaign by over USD 40,000.

The campaign, which lasted from 3rd December 2019 to 8th January 2020 attracted a large number of citizens and company donors. Thanks to the funds raised during the campaign, more than 200 children will get a chance to attend preschool for the first time.  The founders of the Foundation, Novak and Jelena Djokovic, inspired by the gestures of all who joined the campaign, decided to double the raised amount of USD 140.000 with their personal funds, which means that more than USD 280.000 will be invested in the opening of new preschools in Serbia.

Novak, along with the Christmas and New Year wishes, thanked everyone who supported the initiative and helped in achieving this goal.

“Thanks to your donations we have exceeded the goal of this year’s “Season of Giving” too and reached the incredible amount of USD 140.000 which will help us open new preschools and implement new preschool programs for children in Serbia. I am proud and my heart is full when we are playing on the same team for the same cause, that’s why Jelena and I decided to double your donations this year too! Because, united in doing good and noble deeds, we can bring smiles to the faces of our children and give them hope for a better tomorrow. Thank you very much for believing in our Foundation, your selflessness and all the messages you left on the website together with your donations. Thank you for this victorious start to 2020, because if this is how it starts, it will surely be a fantastic year,” said Novak Djokovic.

Global director and co-founder of the Foundation Jelena Djokovic stated that thanks to all the donors and the work of the Foundation, more than 22 thousand children have a better and healthier environment to grow up in today.

“This year’s fundraising campaign had the goal of collecting funds to ensure that 200 children will get access to preschool education. Thanks to your selfless support, this goal has been exceeded and we thank you for that. Thank you for helping, year after year, so that a growing number of children in Serbia can have an opportunity to participate in pre-school education programs. At the end of September last year, we opened the 44th preschool, in Svilajnac, providing space for another 75 children from this municipality and the neighboring villages. We opened a kindergarten in Macvan Prnjavor near Sabac, which allowed more than 150 children from Prnjavor, and other villages near Sabac, to attend kindergarten for the first time. There is an ongoing process for opening a kindergarten in Inđija as well, but we will not stop there. Our goal is to change the lives of children in our country,” Jelena added.
