The International Day of Sport in Belgrade

Over 300 schoolchildren spent a wonderful time at the event “Fill your time with right things, CHOOSE SPORTS” we organized in Belgrade on the occasion of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.

More than 300 schoolchildren from Novi Beograd spent a wonderful time at the event “Fill your time with right things, CHOOSE SPORTS“ we organized on the occasion of the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. During this special sports event the children from 10 different primary schools demonstrated the true spirit of sportsmanship and teamwork competing in football, basketball, handball and volleyball at the sports and recreation center “11. April”. The atmosphere was really great, and we are so proud of these kids!

Leading teams received valuable prizes. Samsung provided 34 smart phones and cameras for the individual winners, as well as audio and video equipment for the schools.

First and second graders were practicing motor skill sports, quite beneficial for kids as they help them activate all the muscle groups and enhance their physical development. As a reward for the participation, each child received a thank-you-note.

The aim of this event was to boost the spirit of sportsmanship in children and promote sports that are essential for their proper development.

Our mission is to engage as many children as possible in sports and recreation. Therefore, we have gathered here to raise awareness of the importance of being physically active, and to show that sports have a huge impact on children’s development. By doing sports, kids develop important social skills, learn about team spirit and perseverance. Besides this, I would like to mention that we reconstructed a tennis court in Priboj last year. In addition, we want to ensure that all our Schools of Life get schoolyards the children deserve. We will continue to provide the best possible conditions for children in order to enable them play sports. Sport plays an important role in improving physical and mental development of every child. We gladly accepted the invitation from “Novak Djokovic” Foundation to join them in this event, showing the importance of sports. I’m pleased that our employees have been here too, to participate in the games and activities together with the kids. We all tried to understand the true meaning of fair-play and team spirit, since these are the core values both for business and sports. Such a great number of participants can only mean one thing – that we all respect true values such as teamwork, perseverance, ability to cope with difficulties, together with healthy competition that encourages us to be better – said Milan Vujović, Head of Marketing at Samsung Electronics Adriatic.

The municipality of Novi Beograd, children’s theatre “Boško Buha” and company “Voda Vrnjci” also supported the event. The event host was our famous actor Milorad Mandić Manda.

In 2013, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 6 April as the International Day of Sports and Physical Activity, in honor of the first modern Olympic Games held in Athens in 1896. Before the adoption of the Resolution by the General Assembly, Novak Djokovic, on behalf of all athletes, has strongly supported the idea that sport is recognized as a special activity that contributes to education, human development, healthy lifestyles and a peaceful world.
