Tennis Weekend Clinics for Children in Belgrade
Novak Djokovic Foundation took part in the Belgrade Spring Fest today, together with our friends from Eucerin Serbia. We had a wonderful time at the sports event “Tennis weekend clinics”, we organized for children up to 10 years old, at the Tennis Center “Novak” in Belgrade.
Kids enjoyed learning the basic tennis strokes and techniques, thanks to the help of professional and experienced tennis coaches. The atmosphere was terrific, and everyone had a lot of fun.
On this occasion, our dear friends from Eucerin Serbia talked with children and their parents about the importance of sun protection for children’s skin. Given that UV damage and repeated sunburn during childhood have been proven to increase the risk of skin cancer later in life, it is crucial that children’s skin is properly protected, especially when exposed to direct sunlight (tennis is a sport mostly played and practiced outdoors).
The kids also spend a great time and expressed their creativity in various painting and drawing workshops.
We have gathered here to learn some new things, to socialize, to have fun, but also to support Belgrade Spring Fest, a wonderful event, and to enrich its program with interesting sports activities for the youngest. We are happy to see children enjoy these tennis lessons. Their smiles tell us we need to do this more often. We have also raised children’s awareness about the importance of sun protection, and tried to emphasize the value of sports in the same time. Sport provides a lot of opportunities for kids to learn the rules of fair play and to one day become successful and good people – said Maja Jovanović, Novak Djokovic Foundation project manager.
According to Nada Miletić Nevajde, Eucerin Serbia representative, it isn’t surprising that Novak Djokovic Foundation and Eucerin Serbia are cooperating on the implementation of this project.
Novak Djokovic Foundation has already done a lot for children in Serbia regarding their welfare and health. On the other hand, Eucerin Serbia supports such events with the aim to inform the kids on how to protect their skin from harmful effects of UV rays and how to have good skin care habits. Our skin remembers everything – all the sunburns, tans or just simple day-to-day time spent outdoors without sun protection. In addition, the negative effects of solar radiation are accumulated during the entire lifetime. However, 80% of total lifetime sun exposure is taking place before the age of 18. I’m glad that we will cooperate with Novak Djokovic Foundation in the future on similar projects and events. We are aware that sports, as well as protection of children’s skin, are equally important for the health of children, their future and the future of the entire nation. I’m also pleased that we promoted good health habits while having a great time with these young tennis players – said Nevajda.
