Schools of Life Arrives in Lucani
Novak Djokovic Foundation has signed the agreement with the Municipality of Lucani on opening the new “School of Life” within the primary school in the village of Kotraza. Thanks to the project, more than 40 children in this small place in western Serbia will be able to attend preschool education for the first time.
Just like we did with the previous six Schools of Life, beside the complete reconstruction and equipping of the facility, we will provide additional funds to improve teaching quality in this preschool. The seminars will inform local government representatives and kindergarten teachers about the new, improved methods of preschool education, and they will be able to learn about several specialized programs intended for preschool children.
Only 10 percent of children aged 3-5, 5 have been included in the preschool education system in the Municipality of Lucani. Therefore, we have been working hard to change that for better, and to provide a safe and stimulating environment in which every child will have the opportunity to attend preschool programs. The total value of the project is EUR 36.000,00 which covers the full reconstruction and equipping of the facility. Thanks to “Schools of Life” project, several closed classrooms of the primary school will be open again, and transformed into a beautiful preschool. We are pleased that the “School of Life” will be a part of the school with a long tradition, where true values in life have been passed down from generation to generation – said Gorana Dzudza Jakovljevic, NDF project manager.
The president of the municipality Vesna Stambolic explained that the project is of great importance for the entire community in Lučani.
The donation is exceptional in every way. Novak Djokovic once again showed he really cares for the children, which is in the same time a care for the future. This young man is so remarkable, his greatness, empathy and all other virtues enriches us all. This project is very important for the municipality of Lucani, as it includes children from the rural part of our community. In the new premises they will be able to learn, socialize, play and develop their creativity and talents. Many thanks to our dear Novak – said Vesna Stambolic.
Ljiljana Dmitric, director of PI “Nasa radost” expressed her gratitude for the help.
We sincerely hope that the project “Schools of Life – Together for Childhood” will encourage further efforts to increase the number of children included in preschool education in Serbia, since it is a project of vital importance for our country. We want to express our gratitude to Novak Djokovic Foundation for enabling kids from Kotraza to learn, make new friends, play with their peers and have a happy childhood. Investing in early childhood education is one of the best ways to ensure children’s proper development. That’s why our goal is to help every child reach their full potential. Thanks to this project we are sure we will achieve this goal – said Mrs Dmitric.
Schools of Life project has been implemented in cooperation with CIP – Center for Interactive Pedagogy. The project has been designed to encourage the children to dream, but they need our help to make these dreams come true. So far “Schools of Life” have been opened in Ljig, Raska, Knic, Kraljevo, Merosina, while in Vladicin Han, the construction works reached the final phase and the opening of the facility is expected soon.
