Novak Djokovic Started the NDF Campaign Sport in One Word

by , Posted on 6th Apr 2017

Today is the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, and on this occasion the Novak Djokovic Foundation launched the Sport in One Word campaign online.

The goal of this campaign which will last until the 30th of April 2017, is to raise awareness about the importance of sport and recognize its contribution to education, human development, healthy lifestyles and a peaceful world.

I’m fortunate to play the sport that I love. It has granted me with so much joy, passion, good emotions and memories. Sport also helped me build my character, body and mind as well as fight off the adversities along the way. But if I have to pick one word to describe what sport means to me that would be health. Sport is very important both for children and adults and I’m proud that my Foundation is doing a great work to provide equal conditions for kids to be physically active every day – said Novak Djokovic in his video message the campaign officially began with.

How the Campaign Works

We’ve come up with some easy but fun tasks for everybody willing to support our campaign and join us. All participants should take a blank sheet of paper, write down what sport means to them in one word, make their video or photo message, add the hashtag #SportIn1Word, upload this message to their Facebook, Istagram or Twitter profile and share it with the world. The most tweeted and shared videos and photos will be integrated in our final campaign video, where we’ll reveal some exciting things and creative ideas.

In the spirit of the campaign, the Novak Djokovic Foundation will soon open four new preschool playgrounds, first in Srbobran and Stara Pazova, and shortly after in Gornji Milanovac and Novi Becej. The playgrounds are designed to improve the quality of life of children and ensure that they have plenty of opportunities to be physically active and stay healthy. Many sporting activities, mini tournaments and similar events will take place on the opening days for kids and their friends to enjoy.

Tell us in one word what sport means to you and share it with the world #SportIn1Word.
