Novak Djokovic Foundation opens its 49th kindergarten in Topola for 60 children
Novak Djokovic Foundation’s mission to provide support to preschool institutions and children throughout Serbia continues; a new facility was opened in Topola – it will offer excellent conditions for child education and development.
Novak Djokovic Foundation has opened a kindergarten within the “Sofija Ristic” preschool facility in Topola, a project that was a joint effort by the Municipality of Topola and the Foundation. The grand opening of the new facility was attended by Co-Founder and Global CEO of the Foundation Jelena Djokovic, National Director Maja Kremic, preschool principal Gordana Nidzovic, the mayor of Topola Igor Petrovic, and deputy mayor Jasna Vukovic. The kindergarten in Topola is the 49th that the Foundation has reconstructed, refurbished, and equipped.
The facility has an 850m2 floor area, whereas the Foundation has entirely reconstructed, refurbished, and equipped 250 m2– which includes two classrooms that accommodate 60 children, as well as ancillary spaces, a hallway, and toilets. With the help of donors, the Foundation additionally provided insulation for the entire surface of the building. According to the local government officials, the launch of the initiative by the Foundation inspired the Municipality of Topola to join in the project, which enabled the building, which dates back to the 1970s, to be further remodeled in its dining and kitchen area, with new telecommunications and Internet connection, as well as gas heating.
The total value of the project is RSD 15 million – of which the Foundation donated RSD 11.5 million – and RSD 8.5 million of which were designated for all the necessary works, while 3 million were planned for furbishing the new spaces. The main partner on this project is dm drogerie markt, one of the CSR champions in the country. Other donors that supported the project are: Henkel’s brand Ceresit, Grubin, Enmon, and Takett.
“’Sofija Ristic’ Preschool Institution is known for its long tradition. With the expansion of the facilities, it will shine with even brighter colors, and will get everything necessary to provide ideal conditions for growth and development in a stimulating learning environment for children. Novak Djokovic Foundation always puts the well-being of children first, which, in the long term, means the improvement of the quality of life of the entire community. We look forward to making the everyday life of our wonderful hosts from Topola and their children even nicer – and we thank the Municipality and the donors for the excellent cooperation,” stated Jelena Djokovic, co-founder and Global CEO of the Novak Djokovic Foundation.
“Topola is a place of recognizeable tradition and hospitality, known for its vineyards, as well as rich religious and cultural importance. For these reasons, the Novak Djokovic Foundation decided to invest in this kindergarten with our partners, to encourage local families to, together with their wonderful children – remain in Topola and continue to make this place unique as it is. We are particularly glad that we will bring waiting lists down to a minimum with the opening of this kindergarten,” added Maja Kremić, national director of the Foundation.
“Cooperation with the Novak Djokovic Foundation represents a great privilege and honor for us. Our kindergarten was opened in 1985, 40 years after the foundation of the first children’s care centre in Topola – and thanks to the support of the local self-government so far, and of the Novak Djokovic Foundation as of today – we have expanded our capacities, increased the inclusion of children and grown into a remarkable institution, which the citizens of Topola and the surrounding area can be proud of. Thank you for allowing our children to spend time in a space which is stimulating, inspiring, creative and modern – and I am sure that they will remember our celebration from today for a long time,” said Gordana Nidzovic, director of “Sofija Ristic” Preschool Institution.
“With this great gesture of the Novak Đoković Foundation, we have received what we needed direly – an accommodation for our children in a safe and pleasant space – which will make their childhood and growing up even nicer. This time, the Foundation fulfilled one of its goals again – it contributed to enabling better conditions in our community for raising children of pre-school age. In the hope that we can, together with the Foundation, in the coming period, participate and help the realization of similar projects in the Topola Municipality – we are immensely grateful for this gift!” Stated Topola municipality deputy president Jasna Vukovic.
