Representatives of the Novak Djokovic Foundation and the local government today officially opened the newly re-designed playground in Pionirski park in Krusevac.

Funds in the amount of  € 18,645 the Foundation donated to support the needs of the preschool institution “Nata Veljkovic” and kindergarten “Neven”, currently accommodating nearly 500 children, covered full playground reconstruction and equipping. The playground location has been cleaned up and safety surfaces, fences, and benches have been installed along with the latest and durable playground equipment including swings, slides, seesaws, playground activity panel and a lovely wooden playhouse. The new facility looks really great and we hope it will provide many hours of entertainment for all children of this area.

Gorana Dzudza Jakovljevic, Head of the Program and Project Department at the Novak Djokovic Foundation, emphasized the essential role of playgrounds in the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being of children right from the stage of early childhood.

The success of these facilities is based on our collective awareness that all children deserve a quality outdoor play space that encourages their socialization, imaginative play and physical activity. Due to the excellent cooperation with local authorities so far the Foundation has reconstructed and equipped 10 playgrounds in Serbia and we’ll keep doing so to ensure that as many children as possible have access to a range of opportunities to explore, play and reflect in a natural setting, explained Dzuzda Jakovljevic.

Jasmina Palurovic, Mayor of the City of Krusevac, said that the Novak Djokovic Foundation recognized efforts of city authorities and preschool institution to make a tangible difference in the lives of the local children and enhance the quality of early childhood services in their community.

Through this generous donation the Foundation has helped us to create a more inviting playground with new equipment and features and thus enable all our children to experience the joy of playing and outdoor learning in a safe, pleasant and stimulating environment, said  Palurovic.

Vesna Zivkovic, Director of the Preschool Institution “Nata Veljkovic” in Krusevac, expressed her gratitude to the Novak Djokovic Foundation for bringing their dream playground vision to life. In this way, the Foundation is supporting not just families with young children in Krusevac and nearby places but also teachers at PI “Nata Veljkovic” and their ongoing commitment to creating better conditions for kids to thrive and reach their full potential.
