The donation of books to “Milivoje Borovic” school is a result of ongoing cooperation between the Foundation and Prima International School after the traditional charity event “Walk a Mile for a Smile”, held in May last year. The funds raised from donations of the sponsors who supported the campaign and from the participants in this charity 1-mile walk have been used to provide new books and other reading materials for the school library.
Gorana Džudža Jakovljević, NDF project manager, explained that access to books, along with teachers who direct and support student reading process, are of crucial importance for school-age child development.
Not a year passed since our first visit and yet we are happy to be here again, this time to bring a lot of contemporary and interesting titles for students to enjoy, learn and discover new things. School library was in a really bad shape. Nevertheless, we are proud of being able to enrich its collection with this donation in cooperation with our partners from Prima International School. We did our best to select the books to match student interests in order to instill in them a lifelong love of reading and encourage them to read more on a daily basis, said Džudža Jakovljević.
This is the second year of successful cooperation between Prima International School and the Foundation, aiming to improve learning conditions of children in Serbia.
We would like to express our gratitude to parents and to all the people of good will for participating in our charity event “Walk a Mile for a Smile”. Big thanks to our partners from Novak Djokovic Foundation as well. Only if we work together we can make great things happen for those in need of our help and support, and to bring smiles on many children’s faces, said Brigitte Petrovic Macintosh, PRIMA International School principal.
The students welcomed representatives from the Foundation and Prima International School with a special show they performed just for this occasion.
