In less than a day, Novak Djokovic fans donated €15,000 for children in Srebia
The best Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic launched a charitable project on his 31st birthday. On this occasion he invited all his fans to make a donation and help the Novak Djokovic Foundation raise $ 31,000 so that 442 children in Serbia can attend preschool.
The call turned successful as more than 330 of his followers worldwide supported the campaign and almost €15,000 has been collected in just 24 hours. The funds will be invested in early childhood education programs the Novak Djokovic Foundation implements in Serbia with the aim of giving local children access to quality preschools.
I want to thank everyone for taking part in this campaign and donating for early childhood education programs we are running in Serbia. Each year our NDF family is getting bigger which is one of our goals and my gratitude goes to over 300 of my fans who responded to my birthday pledge and made their contributions. Together we can really make great things happen for children and transform their lives in a positive way! People constantly contact us and ask how they can help us in our mission. Therefore, though I generally avoid fundraising calls, this time I’ve opened that door for them to get involved. We’ll start a similar campaign for Jelena’s birthday as well because the opportunity to give back and the feeling of being connected with people who join our initiatives make our special day even more special,
My heart is full when we reach to young children in need of our attention and support when we show them that we care, empower them to reach their full potential and become champions of life,
He also emphasized how lucky he’s been to be surrounded by loved ones and have a career on the court.
I know how hard it can be to grow up in troubled times and how just a little can go a long way, which is why I’ve decided to dedicate this birthday to a cause near and dear to my heart: the Novak Djokovic Foundation. We opened NDF in 2007 and since then our team has worked in Serbia to enable children from disadvantaged communities to grow up, play and develop in stimulative, creative and safe settings, whilst learning to respect others and care for their environment,
