Friendship Games on Kopaonik Mountain Ended on Sunday With a Lovely Closing Ceremony
After four great days on Kopanik mountain, “Friendship Games” camp ended on Sunday with a lovely closing ceremony. All the kids got some nice presents, “thank you” letters and diplomas, which made them very happy. “Novak Đoković” Foundation organized this event for more than 50 children, aged seven to 10 from three rural primary schools, from Knić, Ljig and Raška municipalities. From 3-6th October they were able to meet and socialize, acquire new skills, play and create together, and to learn through numerous art and creative workshops, games and group activities.
PROMOTION OF RIGHT VALUES
Everyone in NDF would like “Friendship Games” to become a traditional event. We want to organize something like this for the kids every year, especially after we have seen the happiness on their faces for being part of this first children camp on Kopaonik. Their joy, smiles and positive energy are motivating us to continue helping through such activities, which are a good way to promote right values, like friendship, fair play, understanding, acceptance of diversity, healthy nutrition, but also importance of teamwork and environmental awareness
said Jelena Ristić, chief executive officer of NDF.
Project manager at “Novak Đoković” Foundation, Gorana Džudža Jakovljević, was very pleased with great atmosphere among children, their parents and teachers at “Friendship Games”. She thanked the Centre for Interactive Pedagogy (CIP) and other partners of the Foundation for helping the event organization.
– Children have shown great creativity in making “Tree of friendship”, interesting masks, hats, hairstyles. They enjoyed outdoor activities, various games, and walking on Kopaonik mountain, exploring its beauties. The kids were able to see and experience something new. On the last day, in the morning before they packed up for going home, all of them watched TV at hotel “Konaci”, cheering for Novak in his final match in Beijing. They were very happy and delighted with his victory – Gorana explained.
“Novak Đoković” Foundation will continue to support early development and education projects in Serbia. After Ljig, the municipalities of Knić and Raška will also get the “Schools of Life”. In the next year we plan some other projects, as well, which will provide better conditions for children to learn and grow up – Jelena added.
Kopaonik is symbolically chosen as a place for the first “Friendship Games” camp because Novak Djokovic grew up there and made his first tennis steps with Jelena Gencic. He loves coming back to the mountain where he began dreaming his biggest dream and he wanted it to be the place for the first “Friendship Games”. The Novak Djokovic Foundation wants to encourage other children to dream, like Novak did.
The “Friendship Games” camp is supported by: Bambi company, Lasta, MK Mountain Resort, Next, Lavirint, TG Commerce, Delhaise, Rosa, with partners: CIP (Center for Interactive Pedagogy), and Young Scouts of Serbia.
