Cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the World Bank: 100 new preschool rooms across Serbia
We are taking big steps towards our mission that every child in Serbia has access to quality preschool education! By the end of 2022, we will adapt and equip at least 100 preschool rooms in public facilities and existing preschool institutions.
Today, we signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development on partnership cooperation on the Project of Inclusive Preschool Education, which is financed with the support of the World Bank. Within this cooperation, in the next two years, together with the Ministry, we will join the capacities and adapt and equip the premises in public facilities, which will be used for providing preschool education.
“With an aim to provide our youngest generations with a stimulating environment for play and learning in order to develop their full potential, our team has so far reconstructed, equipped and helped 45 preschools throughout Serbia. In this way, we have also encouraged the development of local communities, which in the long run contributes to a better future for all of us. However, the numbers show that there is still a long way to go before every child in Serbia has access to preschool education. That is why we are very glad that, thanks to our many years of experience, the Ministry put their trust on us to help them on that path and we are sure that with the partnership with the World Bank the project will be successfully completed, ” said Maja Kremic, National Director of Novak Djokovic Foundation.
The plan is to adapt and equip at least 100 rooms in public facilities and existing preschool institutions by the end of 2022. The works will be supported by the Inclusive Preschool Education Project, which is financed by the World Bank, while our team will coordinate activities on the reconstruction, conversion and adaptation of those premises and equipping them with furniture and didactic material.
“Laying a good foundation for development and education from the earliest age is important, not only for the socialization of children, but also for their further successful schooling. The Novak Djokovic Foundation has been implementing its own programs for years, which are aimed at providing of better conditions for the implementation of preschool education. In this case, we will use their knowledge and experience and unite to provide quality conditions for an even larger number of children, especially from socially and economically endangered social groups,” said the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of education, science and technological development Branko Ruzic.
Within this cooperation, the Foundation will also implement a support program for parents and guardians of children up to 6 years of age in all municipalities included in the project.
Our team will additionally support the efforts of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development to improve the system of preschool education and to carry out the educational process in even better conditions. In the first year of cooperation, works are planned in 20 municipalities: Doljevac, Vlasotince, Vladicin Han, Varvarin, Trstenik, Brus, Kraljevo, Cacak, Obrenovac, Stari Grad, Jagodina, Batocina, Svilajnac, Raca, Velika Plana, Bac, Apatin , Sid, Nova Varos, Cajetina.
